Remember remember your wine in November
White (2 of each)
CLOS DU GRAVILLAS, MINERVOIS, 2017, L'INATTENDU
Grenache Blanc & Maccabeu. Dry and rich, with a good balance of green apple and mineral flavours, and an elegant mouth feel. There is lovely custard apple fruit allied to dried apricot, vanilla, garrigue notes of herbs and all sorts of ginger and white pepper on the finish. The warmth of the alcohol does not detract but rounds the mouth; it is a textural wine with the reverberating minerality of terroir from those hot stones.
CANTINA BARONE, CAMPANIA, 2015, FIANO PARTICELLA 928
100% Fiano. Rich golden in colour, a touch honeyed, floral, rich in acidity, with a touch of glycerine on the palate that makes it feel a bit “warmer” and less savoury than the Marsella. The wine bangs with minerals, and has really good length.
DOMAINE CULOMBU, CORSICA, 2016, CLOS CULOMBU BLANC
100% Vermentinu. The assembly of the different terroirs gives the wine roundness and finesse. Exotic fruits and white fruits can be found on the nose, along with aromas of aniseed spices. The Dense and fleshy mouth is lightened by a balanced acidity that brings freshness and elegance to the wine.
Red (2 of each)
SAO DEL COSTER, PRIORAT, 2017, PIM PAM POOM
100% Grenache. Pim Pam Poom is brimming with funky purple berry skins and crunchy berry seeds, ripe red raspberry, strawberry, and cherry, violet flowers, rich slatey mineral notes, and cracked black peppercorns
GEORGAS FAMILY, SPATA, 2017, SEIRA #3 RED
75% Merlot, 10% Syrah and 15% Savatiano. Fresh small fruits and herbs on the nose, with a concentrated fruity palate and impressive freshness and structure.
BOW & ARROW, OREGAN, 2016, GAMAY NOIR
100% Gamay. Vivid in colour, this wine has juicy, primary fruit with lovely fresh cherries. Medium-bodied, it is grippy with soft red fruit flavours and an earthy and granite-based minerality and tart finish.
