Frizzante means lightly sparkling, and many of these playful sparklers are only lightly effervescent. This means they taste fruitier than something like a champagne, say, and we think this lends themselves very nicely to festive merriment. The exception to the theme here is the Tripoz that is worthy of a toast at the most expensive wedding. If you want wines that fizz with interest this Christmas, look no further. Fantastic value for money too!

Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvedre, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Petit Manseng, Muscat
Delicious Charmat method fizz. The free run juice of perfectly ripe Cabernet Sauvignon is placed into a pressurised tank that traps the bubbles from fermentation, this is joined by a selection of other grapes from across the Gassac estate. Expect strawberry and summer berry fruit on the palate, with soft creamy bubbles and a with a zesty finish. This would be wonderful with smoked salmon, or as an aperitif.

100% Chardonnay
This is a Crémant that stands up to 99% of Champagnes by virtue of its subtle autolytic notes, and multi layered complexity. Think of autumnal leaves mixed with demerara coated apples and you'll be approaching the vibe of this lovely methode traditionelle fizz.
WILL DAVENPORT, PET NAT, HORSMONDEN, NR HASTINGS, UK, 9%
Pinot Noir, Auxerrois & Pinot Meunier
Petillant (not fully sparkling), It is a light, refreshing, slightly cloudy sparkling wine and is absolutely the perfect summer drink. The blend has always been based on Auxerrois, normally with Faber and Pinot Meunier, but this vintage is based on Pinot Noir, giving it a slight colour and more red berry fruit style.
DONATI CAMILLO, LAMBRUSCO ROSSO, EMILIA ROMAGNA, ITALY, 11.5%
100% Lambrusco
A deep, brilliant crimson colour. It has soft brown-sugar and strawberry pulp aromas, with a little hint of briar. On the palate it is frizzante, with quite a robust, serious, earthy chewy-cherry fruit and a quite intense plum-skin grip. Mouth-filling and well-textured, there is plenty of racy raspberry acidity and lovely balance.
CASA BELFI, BIANCO FRIZZANTE, VENETO, ITALY, 10.5%
100% Glera
The wine is light bodied, bone-dry and, without filtering or clarification, as hazy as a blizzard in a snow globe. Straw yellow with greenish hues, it has fine and persistent bubbles and flowery and fruity scents accompanied by notes of citrus, yeast and baked bread. The lees at the bottom of the bottle offer the wine softness, mouthfeel and longevity.
MARTO WINES, CRAZY CRAZY, PET NAT, RHIENEHESSEN, GERMANY, 10.5%
Huxelrebe, Wurzer & Muller Thurgau
Marto's pet nat is a profusion of tropical fruit with lychee that looks like unfiltered orange juice. It's made by adding a portion of fresh juice after racking, so it's only lightly effervescent. A portion of the blend is skin macerated which gives an added crunch. No added sulphites.
