Cantina Gallura, “Gemellae” - Gallura – Sardegna, Italy
Brilliant straw-yellow in colour with light greenish reflections; intense and subtle aroma with a delicate and persistent bouquet. It is dry and alcoholic with a soft flavour, low acidity and an extremely pleasing bitter background.
Sclavos, “Efranor” - Lixouri, Kefalonia, Greece Moscatela and Vostilidi of Kefalonia
Lemon yellow in colour, the wine has aromas of ripe citrus aromas, roses and almond notes. The palate is medium-bodied with balanced acidity, orange, lemon and apricot notes and a pleasant, long finish.
Domaine Antoine Arena, “Carco” - Patrimonio, Corsica, France
Preserved lemons and oranges, maybe a little mint. These are punctuated with fennel and sweet herb flavours. Think heat, think rocks, think garrigue.
Azienda Agricola Caravaglio Antonino, Palmento di Salina IGP - Salina Island off northern Sicily, Italy
Nerello Mascalese, Corinto Nero, Calabrese
The Palmento di Salina wine shows a bright red color. More than any other wine, it really represents the traditional ways of the Aeolian Islands: using various grape varieties and macerating in the typical concrete and stone basin (the “palmento”).
Bodegas Tajinaste, Listán Negro - La Orotava, Tenerife, Spain
100% Listán Negro
The nose is clean with aromas of cranberries, cherries and plums along with smoky and spicy notes. The palate is smooth with silky tannins, good minerality and acidity.
Davenport Vineyards, Diamond Fields Pinot Noir - East Sussex, England, Great Britain
100% Pinot Noir
Flavours of cherries and blackberry, a good dark colour and plenty of depth. It can be drunk now, or kept to develop more complex flavours and a mellow character.
