Yoshiaki Sato and his wife Kyoko have quickly made a name for themselves producing some of the most highly talked about and sought after wines in NZ. Yoshi sources only from organically farmed sources and he refuses outright to use any additions such as yeast or enzymes, with none of the wines being subjected to fining or filtration. The only thing these wines see is a tiny addition of minimal sulphur pre-bottling. The wines produced at the Sato estate are pure expressions of place and season and this is what you will find eloquently expressed in this lovely Riesling. It is bright pale straw yellow in colour with touch of green hay, with a slightly petrolly nose accompanied by the pure fruity flavours of lemon, citrus, crushed apple, pear and a bit of baked bread. A dry Riesling but the savoury yeasty creaminess brings a rounded mouthfeel rather than sharp impression which this grape variety normally gives.
